What Are the New Changes?

So, what's actually changing in the NDIS pricing guidelines? There are several important adjustments affecting how funds are managed, pricing limits, and service delivery going forward. The goal of this all is to improve clarity between participants and stakeholders to ensure all participants feel supported and confident using NDIS services.

To make it a tad easier, we have highlighted the main changes which are likely to effect most participants:

  • Changes to PAPL, (Price Arrangements and Pricing Limits), 2025 - 2026. Every year, the costs of living for employees and operational costs for businesses rise. The updated changes in PAPL reflect these increases, enabling small businesses, independent contractors and sole traders to accomodate these changes in a reasonable and fair manner.

  • Alllied health and Therapy Changes and Updates. Some allied health services will have slightly reduced service costs including Physiotherapy, Dietitian Services and Podiatry. The goal of this change is to enable more participants to have access and funding for these services. However, some argue this is likely to increase waiting lists and deter services providers from taking on new clients or new providers from entering the NDIS space.

  • Capped Travel Costs. NDIS have now issued capped travel costs for allied health services. Travel will now be capped to 50% of the providers rate for travel.

Why should you Care?

You might be asking, “Why should I care about these changes?” Well, they directly impact your funding situation, affecting which services you can access, how often you can use them, and overall delivery of support services. It’s like being handed a lifeline—a connection to the services that help you live your best life.

For instance, if you have funding changes which decreases accessibility to your preferred therapies, you may want to start the conversation with a coordinator or trusted individual to find other suitable solutions. Make sure you have a strong and supportive network of individuals to assist you with these changes so you are feeling confident and comfortable in understanding these updates in relation to your healthcare journey.

more to come..

As always, further changes are likely to come into play throughout 2025 - 2026, with the NDIA announcing plans to create 3 year pricing road maps, continually review and adjustments to therapy structures and how participants use funding.

Some of the hot topics discussed in this years review include:

  • New changes to Plan Periods and access to funds for participants. The NDIS are putting in place new funding periods for certain areas of funding. This change will mean some participants will have funds released for services over a period of time, such as quarterly. The aim for this is to ensure participants have enough funding for services for the entirety of their plan.

  • Changes to Supported Independent Living guidelines and criteria to ensure participants with high and complex cares are supported in everyday life.

  • Updates to Short Term Accomodation approval and implementation for respite.
